Before you start
- A Textumi account on the MCP, Individual or Professional plan. Any account can connect, but checks and rewrites are refused until its plan includes work through an assistant.
- A ChatGPT plan that allows custom MCP servers. According to OpenAI’s help center, in Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces admins and owners add them, and on Enterprise and Edu also members given that permission. Pro accounts can connect custom MCP servers with read and fetch permissions.
- A browser: custom MCP servers are added on chatgpt.com, not in the mobile apps.
- The address of the Textumi server:
https://textumi.com/mcpAdd Textumi to ChatGPT
- Open chatgpt.com in your browser and go to Plugins.
- Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter Textumi as the name. A description is optional.
- Under Connection, enter https://textumi.com/mcp.
- For authentication, choose OAuth.
- Tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin.
- ChatGPT lists the Textumi tools it found. Install the plugin.
You do not need to turn on developer mode. Older versions of ChatGPT keep the same form under Settings, then Apps, then Create, with a Scan Tools button.
Sign in to Textumi and approve
- When ChatGPT asks you to connect, a Textumi page opens.
- Sign in to your Textumi account if you are not signed in already.
- The page Connect an AI application shows the address of ChatGPT and your account. Check that the address is the one you expect, then select Connect.
- You return to ChatGPT, and the plugin is ready.
The consent page says exactly what the application may do: check and humanize text with your account and use your allowance. It cannot see your saved texts, your billing or your settings.
Use Textumi in a chat
- Start a new chat, type @ and select Textumi. The choice applies to that message.
- Ask in your own words, for example: “Check this text with Textumi”, “Humanize this text with Textumi” or “How many Textumi words do I have left?”.
- ChatGPT calls the tools itself. Before an action such as starting a rewrite it may ask you to confirm. A long text takes a few minutes to rewrite.
Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces
- An admin or owner adds Textumi as described above and publishes it to the workspace.
- Each member connects with their own Textumi account and uses the allowance of their own Textumi plan.
- ChatGPT keeps the list of tools it found when the plugin was created. When Textumi adds a tool, an admin refreshes the plugin to see it.
Disconnect Textumi
In ChatGPT, remove the plugin on the Plugins page. In Textumi, open Account, then AI agents. Every connection is listed under Connections with a Disconnect button. Changing your Textumi password disconnects all applications at once.
Common questions
Can I use an access token with ChatGPT?
No. ChatGPT connects to custom MCP servers only by signing in, so you approve the connection on a Textumi page instead. Access tokens are for applications such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.
I do not see Add custom MCP server. Why?
OpenAI decides which plans and roles may add custom MCP servers. In a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, ask an admin to add Textumi or to give you that permission. ChatGPT changes these menus from time to time, so the form may also be under Settings, then Apps, then Create.
Which texts can my assistant check and rewrite?
Checks work in every language the Textumi AI detector supports, for texts of 5 words to 12,000 characters. Through an assistant the Humanizer rewrites English texts of 50 to 2,000 words. Texts in other languages can be rewritten on textumi.com, where the Humanizer works in every language it supports.
